We have arranged for further training for some of our guards. One such example is CCTV training for our guards to accommodate newly installed CCTV equipment by our clients on these sites.

Pro-Active covers a number of Depots and Stations across the UK. The quality of our security services had proved itself countless times and can best be demonstrated by our clients retention of a 100%.
Since Pro-Active’s establishment in 2004 we have supplied and managed many Gateline/Barriers projects with most of our clients. On occasions this would be on a permanent fixed rota and sometimes this would be on an ad-hoc basis. We managed the rota and supplied the staff for Paddington, Slough and Reading stations Gatelines/Barriers. We also managed for many years for Silverlink Trains their Gateline/Barrier gaps at all stations on an ad-hoc basis (always no less than 8 staff per day). For an enhanced service we can also train staff on Ticket Recognition and on how to operate the handheld Advantex device or other ticket dispenser.
Christmas Security Project
Every year Pro-Active take it upon itself to orchestrate the security of many of our clients train depots, stations and sidings over the Christmas period when all train traffic and public transport is suspended. Unfortunately, vandals are especially drawn to railway sites on the “silent night” and the proceeding days. Ensuring effective security often entails our security guards patrolling along and among the stationed trains and thus requires a PTS accreditation as well as the SIA.
Pro-Active has become an expert in running this complex operation of
training SIA guards in PTS and railway procedures, deploying the staff to remote sites with the public transport suspended and arranging for their accommodation and nourishment over the Christmas period.
The success of this project was well recognized by our client as at least three attempts of vandalism where frustrated and many more were prevented by our highly trained Security Guards. Orders for this year have already been placed.
Crowd control
Pro-Active are experts in providing Crowd Control services for special events. Be it a planned event or a last-minute notice we have been providing Crowd Control staff for the last few years.
As always, we work closely with our clients to establish a risk assessment and method statement for best practice purposes.
We have provided staff at The Henley Regatta, Newbury Race Courses, The Reading Festival, Wembley Central station ( for concerts, matches etc at Wembley Stadium), Reading Stations renewal of escalators project, Twyford, Guilford and Redhill station and many more…
Special events
On occasion of special event, be it refurbishment of a platform, festival or a bank-holiday, our clients approach us regularly to cover gaps in their service. For example, the Glastonbury Festival is notorious for its mud-covered passengers augmenting the train presentation work, or the Reading Festival which requires extra crowd-control personnel at Reading Station. The Dawlish Air Show for example required our customers to place extra security
as valuable equipment was brought into the site… Major events at Wembley Stadium often prompted our clients to require extra crowed control staff to the near by stations…
Over the years we have optimized our service to fit the changing needs of our clients and to answer a-typical needs, such as Special Events in notable short response times.
Ad-Hoc (last-minute) Services
When our client was faced with an urgent unexpected need to secure the station’s car park for two and a half days due to engineering works he approached us at Pro-Active.
Unfortunately, the matter was brought to his attention only hours before the commencement of work.
By pulling out all the stops, with our emergency response team, we were able to supply cover for five shifts at the location in less than ten hours notice much to the satisfaction of our client.
Revenue Protection Staff
We employ a number of staff who have RPI work experience. Additionally, we have the means to fully train staff members to work in an RPI capacity similar to our recent Ticket Office and Train Dispatch services which also included training the staff.
While Revenue Protection staff must be experts in Ticket Recognition and the use of ticketing machines, we follow the notion that they are foremost the forefront of our clients image and constitute an important part of passenger’s perception. We therefore put special care in the selection, recruitment and training process to inherit the customer service approach that Pro-Active is so famous for, in our Revenue Protection staff.
Pro-Active work in a number of different costing methods, from the good old “by the hour” fashion, to more sophisticated and advanced costing ideas. Our clients often find that in the end of the day they had increased significantly their revenues, improved the company’s image and speeded only a fraction of the increase in revenue.
Control Room Staff
Pro-Active supplied to FGW Reading station control room personnel to work in control room on a 24 /7 rota monitoring the CCTV and attending to emergency calls coming through from other stations.
Part of our staff role here was to act as witnesses either in court or through written statements regarding the various incidents they had directly dealt with.
Staff were fully trained to do this by a specialist third party over an intense period of one week.
Technological Innovations
In the 21st century technological innovations are not a mere accessory but a must. It is for this reason Pro-Active has placed technological based solutions at the forefront of its operations, including a specialist Systems Director amongst its management team. However, Pro-Active is also aware that at times the good old pen-and-paper system is superior to high-tech gadgets and does, consequently save money to the client.
Therefore we are sure to tailor technological solution to our clients needs and avoid the one-size-fits-all approach that so often result with unnecessary expenditure.
Among the technology we can implement in our contract are:
